Currently, I am at the Capitol here in Michigan. A lively protest is going on and hundreds have turned out.

Here's the latest from the Detroit News.

You know they have this quote right near the beginning of the article:

“This is not about unions. It’s about working people,” he said.

Yet farther down the page you find this little tidbit:

Carey was joined by thousands at the Capitol for the first of three union-sponsored rallies today.

So it isn't about unions, but the unions are sponsoring the rallies?

Sorry, I may look like it, but I'm not that stupid to believe it isn't about the unions.

Then on page 2 you have this:

Mary Barker, an unemployed teacher from Mt. Pleasant, came to show her support for unions.

And then you have the utter gall of this guy:

“This governor and this Republican Party wants to take almost $2 billion more away from working people and give it to the wealthy and corporations,” said UAW President Bob King. “It’s a reverse Robin Hood and that’s absolutely wrong.”

Now can someone remind me just how much of GM does the UAW now OWN, after the Democrats and the federal government did the "special deal" for them?

you need to go away and try i say try and study what your trying to think of and then you can write about it. who gets a crap how much of GM the union owns. most of this rally is about the butt head gov giving tax breaks to the rich and taking them from the poor. really amn just go away.

      Where is the lie?

      The ownership portion of GM?

HOW exactly is the UAW going to handle contract negotiations when they have a seat on BOTH sides of the table?

Do they go for the workers?, Or do they go for management?

Workers...........well they can raise union dues to increase their income.

Management.............well they can screw the workers(nothing new there) to insure that they get more profits from the company.

OR will they actually do the HONORABLE thing and take themselves out of the loop come contract time?

first i don't see how republicans putting a new tax of 2 billion on us, has anything to do with the union. the NPR article what, they all did that to get rid of the old workers. i left to soon to get any, i m pissed i sure could use 40k right about now. you really don't think the union is that dumb do ya, because if ya do i have some land for ya. so now tell just what a union member has done to ya to get ya so hateful of them.

Govonor Rick, along with the Republicans want to break the Unions, then the corporations that helped them get into office, can start lowering the wages and benefits to average Americans.

Like Democrat Jennifer Granholm did any good at all for that state. Liberal policy that supported the unions has destroyed that state. Lets give Snyder a chance and see if the results are not better.
