Crowley resigns as State Department spokesman

After suggesting the Obama Administration is mistreating Bradley Manning, State Dept. spokesman P.J. Crowley has resigned.

In his position, he truly did put his foot in his mouth.

I agree. The actions of officials are sometimes extreme, imo - wouldn't an apology be sufficient as opposed to resignation?

i believe that an apology would have been fine. The problem is that the behind the scene posturing is probably what got him to resign.

Perhaps Crowley was a long way from wrong. I would not be inclined to apologize for telling the truth.
