On one hand he was speaking on a topic of economics and the stock market so I think he was framing his comment in that context and he did immediately say that we all know that was tragic after his comment.

On the other hand....that would have fit right on Limbaugh or Beck.

You're right, he likely intended to framed that way, but boy does it look awful in print...
